Com Truise

Mid-fi synth-wave, slower-motion funk es la manera en la que Seth Haley etiqueta su trabajo como Com Truise, yo simplemente le llamo VHS-wave.

Tengo rato conociendo a Seth (él también era miembro de AMDISCS pa' que se lo graben). Un EP, dos singles, diferentes versiones y un montón de remixes le ha llevado a la reconocida disquera Ghostly International, pero lo que realmente me impresionó fue que el mismo Alan Palomo de Neon Indian y George Lewis Jr. de Twin Shadow le pidieron que los remixeara!

Best 2010 Tracks

                   Well, I'm too lazy to do a cover for the occasion, so I'm using a picture I took months ago

This year has been amazing in everyway. I've done good friends worldwide and met the wonderful people behind music a.k.a. bloggers, press, labels, musicians and fans that I really appreciate. I stepped out from shadows to be known as the "Hip-Kid of Mexico" or as the "The Mexican Chillwaver" haha sick, I know. 

So this has been a total change in my life (in a good way I hope), a whole new city-lifestyle full of different visions. Deep but true.

Anyways, I decided to take a chance over the forthcoming releases and make a list of the 20 songs I consider the 2k10 best. 

Given that I'm an Easy-Love kind of person, it was really hard for me to choose among my this year favorite tunes only twenty, I didn't want to feature more than one song from the same artist either, such as Miami Horror and Twin Shadow for example. Also I tried to match the songs as possible without leaving the radness of the countdown, so it'd be more like a trip.

Este año ha sido increíble en todos los sentidos. He hecho buenos amigos en todo el mundo y conocido gente maravillosa, bloggers/prensa, disqueras, músicos y fans que realmente aprecio. Salí de las sombras para ser conocido como el "Hip-Kid de México" o como "El Chillwaver Mexicano" jaja chale, ya sé.

Así que este ha sido un cambio total en mi vida (en buen sentido espero), todo un nuevo citadino-estilo de vida, lleno de visiones diferentes. Profundo, pero cierto.

Como sea, decidí arriesgarme sobre los próximos lanzamientos y hacer una lista de las 20 canciones que considero las mejores del 2010. 

Dado a que soy de Amor-fácil, fue muy difícil para mí elegir sólo 20 de entre mis canciones favoritas de este año, no quería poner más de una canción del mismo artista, como Miami Horror y Twin Shadow por ejemplo. También intenté encadenar las canciones para que no sonara como mix de tianguis pero sin salir del orden de la cuenta regresiva, para que fuera como un viaje.

Me gusta bailar, el dancefloor del Américas me tiene miedo...

Mi atención hacia los proyectos de Alan Palomo (Neon Indian) creció cuando me enteré que también era mexicano. Ver a un frontman natural como Palomo me causó ese sentido de identidad que como figura POP nunca había identificado en el país. 

Para mí, la figura del ídolo moderno ya no descansa en Chaz Bundick de Toro y Moi, o en Ernest Greene de Washed Out. Alan Palomo es el hombre, orgullosamente mexicano y yo orgulloso de que él lo sea.

Recuerdo la primera vez que escuché a Okinawa Lifestyle, fue de un post en el facebook de Casey, un tipo que hace videos para artistas grandes como Toro y Moi.  Yo pensaba que eran gente del mainstream por sus beats tan pesados y su producción tan elegante, después me encontré con Gigi Jikia y David Datunashvili, dos estudiantes de Tbilisi bien a toda madre! buenos amigos. Eran los genios detrás de Okinawa Lifestyle.
