Vito de Luca: mitad belga - mitad italiano, compositor, DJ, capitán y piloto aviador del electro y disco connoisseur viene a presentar a nuestra ciudad su más reciente itinerario musical: In Flight Entertainment. 

Aeroplane lanzó su primer 12" titulado "Caramellas" en 2007 bajo el sello discográfico Eskimo, ganando el reconocimiento instantaneo de DJs y productores alrededor del globo, pero sería su segundo maxi, "Pacific Air Race", quien llamaría la atención necesaria para que artistas como Cobra Dukes, Breakbot, Friendly Fires, MGMT, Cut Copy, Sebastian Tellier y Das Pop, entre otros, le pidieran hacer remezclas de sus sencillos.

Además de un amplio catálogo de remixes y mixtapes, Vito de Luca, a.k.a. Aeroplane, cuenta con un álbum de estudio titulado "We Can'T Fly" compuesto e interpretado en su totalidad por él. 

We Can'T Fly, grabado en Touluse, París, Londres y Los Ángeles, es un álbum producido con sutileza, que no sólo muestra su pasión por la música disco, soul y electrónica de los '80s, sino un conjunto exuberante y agridulce de influencias que van desde Abba y música de películas hasta Pink Floyd y los Stones.

Aeroplane nunca ha estado a merced de los bpms tradicionales, y el estar libre de esa "presión del dancefloor" le ha dado a Vito licencia adicional para relajar las cosas y mirar a su alrededor. "Estoy en mi mejor momento a los 105bpm", él dice. "Esa es la velocidad a la que hago la mejor música. Puedes hacer más, hay más groove, más sabor."

Jef Barbara | DannielRadall: Cocaine Love (Single)

As you might have noticed already, Jef Barbara and I are releasing a free EP on july 21 through AMDISCS Label.

The EP is entitled Jef Barbara | DannielRadall - Cocaine Love and it is comprised in its entirely by remixes/reworks of me.

The official release party will take place at MS Cafe in Lodz, Poland this 27 of july, so if you’re around come and say hi!

Cocaine Love is off Jef’s debut full length Contamination, a record i highly recommend. So, do yourself a favor and download it as soon as possible in case you haven’t yet.

Hace rato Ed Banger Records liberó este mixtape de Breakbot, "The Lazy Sunday Selecta; A mixtape for the sun". 

Ya no sé qué decir, es funk de la old-school y ya. También trae su rola Fantasy.

ahh y como al minuto 20 se van a dar cuenta de dónde se fusilaron esta rola "Why?" los She's a Tease (además de Natasha Tomas y JC Lodge pues).

Washed Out - Within and Without [album]

Como les prometimos aquí está el álbum debut de Washed Out, su lanzamiento para este 12 de julio así que probablemente deberían aprovechar este link pirata antes de que me lo tumben.

Washed Out ha sido de mis actos favoritos desde que conocí su EP High Times a principios del año pasado, así como su Life of Leisure donde se encuentra su hit de verano Feel it All Around, una de mis canciones favoritas.

Para quienes este álbum es apenas su primer acercamiento a Washed Out (shame on you!) les cuento que este es un proyecto de un productor de recamara y fotógrafo de Carolina del Sur, llamado Ernest Greene (ahora residente de Atlanta, Georgia) amigo del también South-Carolinense Chaz Bundick a.k.a Toro y Moi, ambos culpables de haber inventado este género llamado Chillwave (vease; Hipster Run Off). Ernest también tiene un side project llamado Lee Weather. Cuenta con dos EPs lanzados en 2009, ambos bajo Mexican Summer, los cuales recomiendo, éste, que es su debut álbum lanzado bajo Sub-Pop Records y un par de 12".

Ésta es mi joyita, hipsters, por favor no la contaminen.

Young Monatana? - Limerence [Álbum]

Ya tenía un buen rato sin saber algo de Young Montana? 

Yo lo descubrí por myspace antes que fuera 'famoso' y me acuerdo que me roló 4 rolas-off Limerence (antes de que si quiera pensara en hacer Limerence). Entre ellas estaban dos que fueron mis tops el verano pasado, Sacré Cool y Bad.day, después este dude, Jon Pritchard, empezó a salir en Pitchfork y esas cosas y se hizo bien ojete. 

Este álbum me recuerda un poco a Flying Lotus y a Star Slinger, otro que se hizo mamonsito después de Pitchfork, pero ¿Qué podemos decir? son ingleses (y amigos).

Anyway, no le den importancia a mi ardillismo vespertino y denle una chance a Limerence, que sí está bueno.

Com Truise - Galactic Melt [LP]

Qué les cuento? el sábado salí con una europea bien mami y borracha, es de hungría. Fuimos a echar party y así, pero eso no tiene nada qué ver con Com Truise.

Ya les había hablado sobre Com Truise, ahora les rolo su LP debut vía Ghostly International. 

Galactic Melt se lanzó hace ratito (aunque ya lo tenía hace como un mes) ahora si me dieron chance de treparlo.

Com Truise era mi compañero de disquera en AMDISCS, él ha hecho un puño de remixes incluyendo Twin Shadow, Neon Indian, Lil B, Kings of Leon y... Daft Punk.

Este bato rifa, es una mezcla muy ochentosa de Sci-fi, Synthpop, Hip-hop y Dubstep. Algunos le llaman 'Chillwave' y así pero yo no sé, ustedes pónganle el género que quieran, al cabo ya saben cómo. #wavealgo

Ford & Lopatin - Channel Pressure LP

Finally les tenemos el LP debut de Ford & Lopatin (antes Games), uno de mis grupos favoritos del año pasado, quienes se dieron a conocer machín con su EP 'That We Can Play' (¿te cayó el veinte?).

Este álbum fue producido por el mismisimo Jan Hammer, el bato que hizo el soundtrack de la serie y trend setter Miami Vice, y fue mezclado por Guillermo Scott-Herren a.k.a. Prefuse 73.

Tiene muchas joyitas, debo decir, mis favoritas son Channel Pressure (homónimo al título del LP), Too Much Midi (Please Forgive me) y Joey Rogers.

Está súper Ochentas/Retro-Futurístico, muy cabrón si me preguntan, además trae un bonus con la versión instrumental de las rolas, otro buen release de Mexican Summer.

Take the L to Eave [Mixtape]

Ya tenía un buen rato sin escribir en el blog, pero sí posteo en Facebook! (para que no me regañe el boss Erick). 

        En fin, decidí darme una chance y armarles este mixtape Nu-Ochentero y nostálgico, al puro sabor retro-futuristico Miami Vice. Ya es verano y como buenos hipsters que son, mirreyes, deberían escuchar esto (además me tomó un buen rato hacerlo con todo y cover haha).

Son tracks separados, a mi tampoco me gusta mezclar todo en una sola pista de 40 minutos y así (eso no significa que no estén los finales bien empatados). #Synthpop #Lo-fi #Nu80s #MiamiVice

 A few days ago i had a rad interview with Russian Adults about my new release and stuff.

1) Hey Danniel! (btw, is that you real name or moniker?) You're releasing a new EP on March 11, can you tell us what it would be like? How long did it take to make it?

Hey! actually my full name is Daniel Cortés Radall, so i guess 'DannielRadall' is a combination of both.

Well, I see the new EP 'Pardo' as a transition point, it still keeps some of the elements used in La Femme such as Lo-Fi and Hip-hop influence but it also gives a glance at where i'm going to, especially the pretty artwork made by my sis'.

I started recording some of the songs right away after AMDISCS released La Femme, but certainly I wasn't planning any release. I guess it was until november-december when I decided to make this record, so it took me probably around four months.

2) Why did you start making music? what was the moving force?

I don't know, I guess I wanted to be a frontman and to have ladies surrounding me lol, but you and I know that it doesn't happen anymore, unless you have money.

On the other hand I started this solo project because I was tired of being unable to play my own songs after a band-breaking up, besides bedroom production became very popular and I didn't need to pay to record anymore.

3)How do you see your music (color, object, feeling) ?

 

Definitely as colors and images :)

4) Which instruments do you use ?
 

Guitars, keyboard/synthetizer, sometimes bass, live drums and percussion. Almost always they are lent

5) have you had live concerts?

Not yet as 'DannielRadall' but we're working on it!

6) Do you often attend gigs? Are you getting inspired by them?

 

Yes and yes. I get pretty excited before a gig/pretty tired after.

7) And what can you say about your local music scene? Are you the only one to surf the wave of modern independent music?

The local music scene sucks, man! everyone is still doing the same post-rock/indie from 2004-05 and stuff like that. Toro y Moi and Chromeo are just starting to appear on radio, of course there are a few into the french-synthpop scene and the Brainfeeder line, is not as popular as it should but i'm sure it's changing.

I'm not the only one riding the indie music wave, nevertheless I am the only one riding the chillwave around here ;)

8) What do you know about russian music scene? you know any bands?

I would say yes but I guess former Soviet Union doesn't count as Russia. Probably what comes to my mind with russian music is just classical composers and no, not t.A.T.u. :)

9) Do you love tequila?

Haha, I'mma have to let you down on this one, I prefer whiskey. Tequila is quite strong and I am such a baby girl.

10) Do you want or plan to make a collaboration with any of other musicians?

Yeah, actually i'm in the making with artists such as Old Arc, Steffaloo, Top Girls and Atlantic at Pacific. I've also talked about it with Teams, Clive Tanaka and more, but the thing is that i'm lazy as fuck... I am remixing Blackbird Blackbird, Jef Barbara and a-ha as well.

11) When should we wait an lp from you that will get 9 from pitchfork? 

 

Haha, right now I only have some early demos of what the full lenght will be, and I also need to figure out the recording issues because I don't own a 'studio' anymore. So if everything works nice we'd be listening to 'Dance Means Love' (subject to change) around october. :)

12) Say please some words for russians who love and for those who gonna fall in love after this interview:)

Oh yeah kids, don't ever drop out of college, that would be such a waste of russian females.

Walsh es el side project de Brandon Ian Biondo tecladista de Coolrunnings de Knoxville, Tennessee (quienes por cierto se presentarán en esta edición del festival SXSW). 

En septiembre Walsh lanzó este EP llamado Smoke Weed About it via AMDISCS Label. Cuenta con featurings de Squadda Bambino en 07 Luxury y Mat Cothran (Coma Cinema) en Untitled. Está dentro de mi categoría Miami Vice, suena a 80's, el bato del cover es Sean Bowie (Teams) y los dos son bien grifos.

Generalmente no escucho las recomendaciones musicales de mi hermana, no digo porque no sean buenas, sino porque son demasiadas y sus comparaciones son profanas, pero ahora se me vino a la mente su mala pronunciación sobre el nombre de esta banda y cómo me reí, así que decidí prestarle atención y vaya sorpresa!

De seguro les arruinaría este disco diciendoles que suena entre Chromeo pero más New-Wave con la voz de Justin Timberlake intentando imitar a Michael Jackson... Pero lo que sí les diré es que cuando vi el video del sencillo "My Secret Lover" inmediatamente pensé en que de alguna manera mis pensamientos se pudieron haber fugado hacia esta canción (Letra/Música/Video) sí, así mero. Sexy.
